BOOTHE GETS $280 CHECK FOR HIS THINKING Randall Furr Awarded $170, As W. R. Ellis Adds $160 To His Savings Account Just as the deadline for pay-ing income taxes approaches and the season for purchasing Eas-ter outfits is at hand, the award-ing of $1,540 last week to sug-gestion winners may prove to be convenient for some who "tapped" Goodyear's "idea" cash barrel. :*This latest distribution," said J. W. Hendershott, :'brings the total since January 1 to $4,050, compared to $3,545 for the same period last year." Heading the list of recent winners was Frank D. Boothe, Dept. 251D, curing, Plant 2, who was awarded $280 for suggest-ing the reduction in size of swab used in his department for paint-ing treads. The change increased considerably the average number of tires painted per gallon of dope. Randall L. Furr, Dept. 111M, zone engineering, Plant 1, won $170 for instituting friction clutch for fiber coupling on cer-tain rheostats on calender train in Dept. 133A. New clutch re-duces breakdown time. Winning $160 was W. R. Ellis, Dept. 286A, production control, Plant 2, for submitting new pro-cedure on the shipment of wrap-ped second tires from one de-partment to another. Ridley P. Tabor, Dept. 111K, machine installation and mainte-nance, Plant 1, made and in-stalled a presser roller for use on elevators. The new roller eliminates gear slippage and down time on automatic eleva-tors. He received $135 dollars. Awarded $50 were Ross J.
