A Meeting of the Council was held on the 7th November, 1932.
Ceylon Rubber Research Scheme.
The nomination of Mr. C. W. Whitelaw in the place of Mr. J . D.
Hoare, retiring, as one of the R.G.A.'s appointees on the Board of
Management of the Ceylon Rubber Research Scheme, was approved.
Rubber Industry Bill (Vide BULLETIN, NOV., 1930, pp. G20/1).
It was reported that efforts are being made to reintroduce this
Bill in a form in which modifications have been made, to meet the
criticisms during the course of the Debate on the Second Reading on
the 30th January, 1931.
Propaganda Committee.
The following items, inter alia, were dealt with in the report of the
Propaganda Committee, which was submitted and adopted:—Brewers'
Exhibition ; Building Centre ; Rubber Firelighters ; Latex Booklet ;
British Industries Fair ; Shipping and Engineering Exhibition ; Pro-paganda
in France ; Rubber and Automobiles Booklet; Rubber on
F.M.S. Railways; Demonstration Rail Coach fitted with Sponge
Rubber Upholstery; Rubber and Textiles; Rubber in Mining;
Rubber Balls as Grinding Media ; Rubber Linings for Coal Chutes.
British Borneo Committee.
The views of the Committee transmitted to the Local Committee
in regard to Labour, Membership of the Local Committee, and Freight
Rates were approved.
