Description |
From a letter written by Gilbreth to Hugo Munsterberg, dated March 19, 1914: "610-1024A. This a strip of micro-motion film which shows the assembly of a sixteen strand No. 2 braider at the New England Butt Company. The clock shown in this picture in making ten revolutions per minute, and this fact is recorded on the upper left hand corner of the face of the clock. This picture shows that to make a motion from the packet to the braider takes six thousandths of a minute or a little more than a third of a second. 610-1024B shows another phase of this same final assembly. You will note that in these two pictures there are two clocks, one which revolves in six seconds, and one which revolves in sixty seconds. Naturally the timing devices in the factory receive rough treatment, and we guard against error by using two clocks, and, unless the clocks agree in the picture, we do not use the data from the film.” |
