Bulletin No. 2—1946. May, 1946. C O U N C I L . Matters dealt with at recent meetings of the Council included the following :— SUBSCRIPTIONS.—The following Bye-Law was adopted by Resolu-tion of the Council on the 1st April, 1946, and confirmed on the 6th May, 1946 :— " In respect of the year 1947 the subscription payable by a Proprietor Member whose estates are situate in territory which, during any part of the year 1945, was in enemy occupation shall be a sum equivalent to, and be payable in like manner and be subject to the same conditions as those which apply to the subscription payable by such Member in respect of the year 1945 under the Bye-Law adopted by Resolution of the Council on the 3rd April, 1944, and confirmed on the 1st May, 1944." Note.—The Bye-Law adopted in 1944 was published in BULLETIN No. 1, May, 1944. PRICE OF RUBBER IN MALAYA.—It was reported that a deputation from the Association had an interview with the Secretary of State for the Colonies and that the Emergency Committee were pursuing certain matters arising out of the interview. RUBBER RESEARCH SCHEME (CEYLON).—Mr. A. W. Harrison was nominated as one of the R.G.A. representatives on the Board of the Rubber Research Scheme (Ceylon) for a period of three years from the 15th April, 1946, in the place of Mr. R. J. Hartley who was leaving the Island on furlough. It was agreed that on Mr. Hartley's return to Ceylon he should be placed on the R.G.A. panel of member to act in the absence of any of the Association's substantive members. The Council placed on record their appreciation of Mr. Hartley's services while a member of the Board. HOSPITAL FOR TROPICAL DISEASES.—It was reported that a circular had been forwarded to Company members concerning revised arrange-ments for medical treatment at this Hospital under the Emergency Hospital Service in respect of civilians repatriated to the United Kingdom.
